Artedomus is proud to be the exclusive Australian supplier of Agape bathware. Established in 1973, Agape has been leading the way in bathware for nearly half a century, transforming bathrooms from purely functional spaces to places of wellbeing and relaxation.
In our Expert Series, you’ll learn about our long-time supplier Agape, its iconic products and its use of sustainable materials, such as Cristalplant®.
What is Artedomus’ affiliation to Agape?
Artedomus has been selling Agape products for 25 years and has developed a long and fruitful relationship with the Italian company over that time.
The Benedini family established Agape in 1973 with the vision to reimagine the products and experience of the bathroom. Agape quickly set the standard in producing contemporary bathware devoted to personal wellbeing. As a design-driven company, Agape works with talented designers and the very best Italian manufacturers. It has established an extensive network of partners, like Artedomus, who share its passion for quality and innovation. Its most iconic piece of contemporary design is the Spoon bath, which has inspired many egg-shaped baths.
What is the Agape Memory collection?
The Memory collection is inspired by classic twentieth-century design, revisited in the light of the twenty-first-century bathroom. Designed by Bendini & Associati, Memory is a nod to the atmosphere and elegance of traditional bathrooms, interpreted in a contemporary manner with modern materials and modern technology. The range includes tapware and accessories available in a variety of finishes, including chrome, brushed burnished, black, white and natural brass.
What are some of the highlights of the Memory collection?
The Agape Memory collection includes a tapware range that is WELS rated in Australia. It also has many unique pieces, such as the Ottocento bath, which is a modern version of a traditional clawfoot bath. With the different basins, tapware and accessories all matching, it provides a full product package and is the perfect solution for period renovations and those seeking a soft, traditional timeless aesthetic.
Because Agape is an incredibly high-quality and unique brand, its products complement our other materials beautifully. Our stone and tiles are also high quality and many of them are unique. Using Agape with our stone or tiles in a bathroom creates a very special space that is only available through Artedomus.
What is the Agape Sen Tapware collection?
The Agape Sen Tapware collection is a range tapware and accessories designed by Gwenael Nicolas, founder of the multidisciplinary studio Curiosity in Tokyo. The range is very sleek and smooth so that the tapware and accessories blend together in one line. (“Sen” is the Japanese word for line.) The independent components can be combined into various arrangements, all with a slim, sleek and soft look.
What materials is the Sen Tapware system made from?
The Sen Tapware system is made from brushed anodised aluminium and manufactured in a small factory in Italy. The factory is known for creating surgical steel parts for medical equipment, so the tapware and accessories are incredibly well-made, durable and perfect for high-end residential projects.
How does Agape reduce its environmental footprint?
All Agape products are manufactured in small Italian family-owned factories that produce things to order. There is no mass production, and the products are manufactured using the latest technology. Agape always considers sustainability in the products it uses. For example, biobased Cristalplant® for the bathware collection.
Why is Cristalplant® a sustainable material?
Cristalplant® is a material consisting, for the most part, of high purity aluminum trihydrate mineral charges, bound together by Biobased® plants resins. It is, essentially, organic makeup inside the material. Cristalplant® is the only Biobased solid surface in the world. The origin of the resin is obtained from corn, and the weight reduction of products, such as bathtubs, allows less CO2 generated by transport.
Agape first used Cristalplant® for the iconic Spoon bath. Artedomus has a Spoon bath that is 22 years old, and it still looks brand new. The material does not discolour over time, making it perfect for bathware, and the products last. Cristalplant® is also very practical for basins because it doesn’t show up toothpaste and soap marks. The matte finish performs better than a normal enamelled or glossy surface.
What unique Agape products has Cristalplant® made possible?
Cristalplant® allows Agape to produce some very unusual shapes due to its flexibility. In addition to the egg-shaped Spoon bath, the Nivis basin is a great example. It looks like a surface of fallen snow, with soft, beautiful, undulating shapes.
