Inax

Our experts answer some frequently asked questions about our range of Japanese ceramics; Inax.

They explain the qualities that make Inax ceramics so unique and why there is nothing else like it in the market.

Inax was founded after producing the terracotta with Frank Lloyd Wright for the famous Imperial Hotel, Tokyo in 1924. Although the history of exterior tiles in Japan had only just begun, the idea that each tastefully designed piece could help define a space started from here and is still alive today. Since then, various exterior tiles have been used in the outer walls of buildings, beautifully decorating Japan’s cities and streets.

Inax is a range of handmade, extruded, sheeted mosaics and tiles that can be used in residential bathrooms, kitchen splash backs, tiled bench tops, inside of pools, exterior facades, commercial projects, hospitality and many more applications.

Inax introduced a vast range of unusual tiles that had never been seen on the market before. This uniqueness is still obvious today in the quality of glazes, colours and the quality of the supply. Japanese design wasn’t always so popular in Australia but we have seen an enormous shift towards Japanese architecture and the related products and watched the popularity of Inax grow. What separates Inax products apart from poor replicas that can be seen on the market today is that they are incredibly hard wearing as they have unique manufacturing processes and bake their products for much longer. Inax’s range of architectural ceramics do not vary from batch to batch. The material is put under a particular light that identities if there are any tonal variations and any variations are removed.

Inax is recognised for its innovative range of interior and exterior architectural ceramics that embody superb manufacturing and leading designs by traditional artisans. Artedomus is the exclusive distributor of Inax in Australia.
