Designed by renowned German furniture, product and lighting designer Konstantin Grcic, (known for his collaborations with Flos and Vitra, among others) for Italian tile supremos Mutina, DIN ceramic mosaics are completely modular, which allows for endless creative combinations. They are the ultimate expression of Grcic’s analytical approach to design and his fascination with simplistic form; fittingly, DIN is the acronym for Deutsches Intitut für Normierung – the German Institute for Standardization – and is also the name of a sheet of A4 paper.
DIN mosaics are available in a range of different sizes, two finishes and complementary, fashion-forward colours so you can create just about any tile layout imaginable – from colour blocking in a bathroom, to feature walls that resemble works of art, or for a one-of-a-kind, mosaic-clad bench seat and table. Once relegated to kitchens, bathrooms and laundries, the versatility and beauty of the DIN collection takes mosaics to living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and beyond.
“Modularity creates flexibility. There are a lot of different ways to use DIN, from very basic to highly sophisticated. You can pick just one tile size in one finish or combining different sizes in different colours and even vary between matt and glossy finishes,” says Grcic.
The eight colours in the collection tap into the latest trends for earth-drawn tones and muted brights, and includes dark green, light green, rose, red, light blue, dark blue, black and white. The tiles come in two finishes – matt and glossy – which you can mix and match to add depth and dimension to your interior.
The mosaic tiles come in four sizes: 150×150mm, 150×74mm, 74×74mm and 74×3.6mm, all of which are completely modular. There are also special pieces to suit angles and profiles so the tiles can be tailored to work around corners.
And they’ll look as beautiful as the day they were installed for years to come; DIN mosaic tiles are durable, easy to clean, and their premium-quality enamels and glazes guarantee long-lasting, even colour intensity to ensure optimal finishes across whatever surface they’re applied to.
They’re also made in a way that’s gentle on the earth and better for the health of your home. The hygienic base tile body is free from VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), and both the packaging and tiles are fully recyclable.
DIN won the EDIDA (Elle Deco International Design Awards) 2022 award in the Floor Covering category. The collection represents a complete new way of conceiving a modern mosaic. It is conceived in a strictly modular logic that allows to play with the elements and offers a wide scope of possible applications, from simple concepts to the most complex ones, demonstrating an almost unlimited flexibility.
