The Bondi Semi underwent an extension and full internal refurbishment to transform a small dark semi-detached house in Bondi into a contemporary coastal retreat.
The design brief focused on achieving a simplified sense of calm and to maximise natural light. Amanda Pike, Director of Pike Withers, explains how the Artedomus natural stones and other materials “were chosen for their ability to foster a sense of casual, refined and modern seaside simplicity.”

Bondi Semi accomplishes this by featuring our electric veined Cortona on the kitchen surfaces, perfectly complementing the surrounding monochromatic tones and rich timbers. Cortona is again featured in the downstairs bathroom where it is paired with our Isernia in a sandblasted finish.
“Cortona being a quartzite was chosen both for its durability and wave-like veining.” says Amanda. “The sandblasted Isernia has always been a favourite from Artedomus for it’s subtle textural qualities. The two stones work together to enhance the coastal feel.”
The timeless Isernia limestone was also used for the external flooring in the courtyard where it was installed in a herringbone design with a structured bush hammered finish.
For a slightly more refined look, Elba was chosen for the master ensuite to complement the dark smoked oak timber veneer joinery. “We like the textural contrast of the honed finish slab to the more paired back sandblasted wall and floor tiles.” Amanda explains.
The final Artedomus stone used was Nero Assoluto, our durable dark granite that surrounds the fireplace and external BBQ.
