“Stone is a natural work of art and I like to immerse my clients in the ‘feeling’ of a piece, pointing out the inclusions, the history, and the birth of each exquisite piece of stone.” If you’ve not already met our WA State Manager, Bec Cornale, you soon will. You’ll find her dropping off samples to your studio, or walking you through the breathtaking array of natural stone slabs in our WA warehouse.
Born and bred in WA, Bec has spent 25 years working in the design and stone industry. She lives and breathes it. She has three beautiful children, two naughty toy poodles, and is always up for a dance – even in the aisles of the supermarket. She’s known for her storytelling abilities and vivid imagination. Chai, smoothie bowls and dark chocolate are her weaknesses. Her super-power is doing a million things at once. When she’s not at Artedomus she designing jewellery for her brand Ishk Jewels. She loves using natural stones and crystals, so she’s constantly surrounded by Earth’s natural wonders.
Q: Can you describe a day in your role at Artedomus?
Mine is such a diverse role, which keeps it interesting and fun. Some days I may be presenting to groups of designers and showcasing our range of interior solutions, and others find me at the warehouse immersed with natural stone slabs and helping guide our clients in their choices.
Q: What sparked your interest in design, and how did it lead you to where you are today?
I am a natural creative and most aligned when I am co-creating beautiful projects and designs with my clients. Aesthetics are important to me – how everything moves and flows can determine the energy, mood and feel of a space. It influences the way we feel, and the opportunity to play a part in how that impacts people has led me to where I am today.
Q: Reflecting on your passion for natural stone, what insights can you share with us?
I believe that natural stone is one of Earth’s greatest creations. I love to educate my clients on the basis of ‘imperfection is perfection’ with nature. Stone is a natural work of art and I like to immerse my clients in the ‘feeling’ of a piece, pointing out the inclusions, the history, and the birth of each exquisite piece of stone. There is so much to learn about the way natural stone is formed over millions of years.
Q: What is the mindset that you bring to every new project?
I like to begin by understanding my clients’ needs, their feel, mood and aesthetic. Once we are on the same page, we can begin the journey to creating their story using the amazing array of products, finishes and textures we have on offer. Understanding where the client wants to take the design and the essence of their space is vital. Listening is key, as once we speak the same language in design, we can achieve something truly beautiful.
